PUBLISHER ~ Donovan Simons, a native of the islands of Bermuda, has actively engaged in professional photography for over twenty years, and has networked with professional photographers while living in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and now Columbus, OH. Throughout his years of professional experience, his portfolio has included photography for families who seek to preserve those precious moments, at weddings and special occasions, for businesses that wish to record benchmark events for employees and clients, and for individuals who need to have quality portraits to promote themselves as models or for career advancement opportunities.

 

Donovan founded SIMONS’ STUDIOS in the 1990’s. As an aspiring photographer, he began his informal journey in photography during his high school years and has continued to refine his talents through formal professional education with the New York Institute of Photography.

 

At the age of fifteen, Donovan first started working in a print shop. He learned the printing business, hands on, from concept to completion. He founded URBAN GRAPHIX & PRINTING in August of 1994. The skills he developed over the years in photography and graphics has been very instrumental in making this magazine a reality.

 

Donovan has been writing poetry since the age of nine. Much of his writings he threw away as it was primarily as means of therapy for him. He started saving his poetry and spoken word pieces when he started college in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Many of his writings can be purchased in his self-published book “The Inner Voice”. Donovan uses his creative gifts of writing, photography and graphic designs to bring to you a differenent perspective on various subjects in life. His goal is to help provide humor and a better quality of life through his internal expressions in this magazine.

 

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF ~ Kenneth Whitehurst is Chief Executive Officer and President of Whitehurst Consulting Group, LLC. He previously served for 3.5 years as Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Services for the North Carolina Community College System Office in Raleigh, NC until his retirement in September 2007. He has served most of his adult working career in various positions in the North Carolina community college system including 4.5 years as Director of Student Development Services for the NCCC System Office. At Piedmont Community College in Roxboro, NC, he served as Dean of Student Development from March 1990 to July 1999 while providing leadership for the admission, student financial aid, veterans’ affairs, career counseling, records & registration, Student Support Services project and the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).

 

Kenneth is a native of New Bern, NC. He currently lives in Atlanta, GA and holds the bachelors and masters degrees from Duke University in Durham, NC. He has completed additional studies at North Carolina Central University School of Law, and graduate work at East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Nova Southeastern University. He served honorably for ten years in the U.S. Army Reserves as an enlisted infantryman, a Drill Sergeant and later as an Infantry Officer. He is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA and formerly a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in New Bern, NC. He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a current a member of Eta Lambda chapter in Atlanta, GA, and a past member of the Triangle East chapter of 100 Black Men of America. He has two adult sons and one grandson.

 

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:
Due to the online magazine being in its infant stages, most positions at this time are either VOLUNTEER or COMMISSIONED based. As the popularity and support of the magazine grows, the listed and any additional position will become salaried, pay per hour or continue to be commissioned based.

 

ASSISTANT EDITOR (VOLUNTEER)
This position involves reading submitted articles, ads and overall literary content for and grammatical and spelling corrections or rewording and article abbreviations that may be necessary for magazine publication.

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR (VOLUNTEER)
This position involves making contact with radio talk shows, television stations and live venues.

 

ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS PERSONNEL (VOLUNTEER)
This position involves making contact with radio talk show hosts, television station directors, live venue personnel, printed publication directors, creating YOUTUBE promotions, and any other form of advertising and promotions - printed or otherwise - that would advance the awareness and support of the magazine.

 

CONTRIBUTING WRITERS (VOLUNTEER)
This position is for aspiring writers who would like to get their work published. PrymeTime Magazine will provide a list of topics to be covered in our magazine. Writers will then choose the topic(s) they feel most comfortable writing on. Once they have written the article, they can submit it to be reviewed and if chosen, will be published in the PrymeTime Magazine in an upcoming issue.

 

GRAPHIC ARTIST/WEB DESIGNER (SALARIED)
This position involves designing digital ads for the magazine, printed advertising and promotional material for PrymeTime Magazine, web design and maintainence. Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office products is a must.

 

SALES ASSOCIATES (COMMISSIONED BASED)
This position involves selling ads, securing contracts and receiving contributions from businesses, organizations and individuals.
