Donovan's Music Ministry

Donovan first began visiting nursing homes as a child to play the piano as part of his church’s outreach ministry. He infrequently continued this practice as an adolescent and young adult. In college, he entered a talent show and won first place as a solo singer. He pursued his dream of becoming an international singer for many years. His ambitions enabled him to travel and sing throughout the continental United States, Caribbean and Canada. However, the memories of his formative beginnings were forever present.

In 2007, Donovan invited himself to attend one of the monthly musical performances by a fellow musician at a nursing home in Snellville, Georgia. After more than a year of unsuccessfully trying to coordinate both artists’ schedules, a firm date was set in March of 2008. Donovan was accompanying this musician solely as a spectator. As fate would have it, the night before the confirmed engagement, Donovan received a call from the musician informing Donovan that he will not be able to honor the engagement as he would be starting a new job. He then asked Donovan if he would be willing to fill in for him. A nervous wreck and completely uncertain of what songs he would perform or how he would pull this off, Donovan agreed to provide this hour of music to the residents of the nursing home. To this day, Donovan continues to perform at that very nursing home as well as others.

While the residents of the nursing home and assisted living facilities, their families and the staff at such locations have voiced how much of a blessing Donovan is to them, Donovan insist that he is the one who receives the greatest blessings.

The genuine smiles, faithful attendance and expressed, sincere gratitude inspires Donovan to continue sharing the gifts given to him from God with others.
